Mitchell A. Kaye given an Award by Magnolia Fire Co.
This year the Magnolia Fire Company had help from a special person. Mitchell A. Kaye a senior partner of a Phildelphia law firm, has found it in his heart to support our organizations fund raising efforts.
On December 22nd some of our members presented him with an award, in which he will hang in his office with pride.
Mitchell has made donations recently that went towards our Christmas Party and Installation Dinner. This year he also donated 3 sets of Field Box tickets to the Phildelphia Phillies, these seats are right at the fence on the field for 6 people.
We turned these tickets into a very successful fund raiser with over $11,000.00 coming back to the fire company. The sale of these tickets allowed our members to earn a fire company jacket for the first time in 10 years or more. The jacket was based on total sales by each member $1.00 from each $5.00 ticket was credited toward the cost.
So thank you Mitchell for all you have done for our members we will never forget your generousity!

December's drill is held at St. Gregory's parking lot
Crews from Engine 29, Quint 29, and Utility 29 practiced with a new style hose pack. Firefighters Marc Comella, Matt Wolf, and Michael Brennan had previously had a meeting with the training committee to discuss a new easier to deploy and stow hose pack. They ran the drill and members liked their idea. Chief Wolf will put this on a trial basis pending possible modifications. Job well done by our Volunteers!
2011 Magnolia Fire Co Pignic Was held in near perfect weather conditions on Sunday June 26th at the American Legion Pavillion. It was a huge success plenty of food, fun, and friendship!

Crews standby in station during Hurricane Irene
The Magnolia Fire Co. provided full coverage for the residents of borough throughout the event. Chief Paul Wolf asked his volunteers to provide in house coverage while Irene pass through and over New Jersey.
The (all volunteer) crew was put in place, Chief Wolf put his plan into action. He was going to hold responses to (1) unit per incident to limit radio traffic and duplication of resources. The crews were staffed by (2) Chief Officers, (2) Engineers, (6) Firefighters, (2) Fire Police, and (2) Junior Firefighters.
We responded to calls based by priority & severity, close to 25 responses were answered. Trees came down, some taking wires down, snapping telephone poles, and causing damage to some homes. The heavy rains strained sump pumps capacities, creating, pump outs with residents over 6". Also crews established a pump to relieve high water conditions in the rear of the 200 block of Madison Ave. avoiding pressure on foundations in the area.
As with any State of Emergency our local government officials stepped up and met the challenge. Mayor Cowling-Carson put out a special request over media resources to our residents for donation of supplies for all crews and departments manning the Magnolia Fire Station.
The response was actually outstanding! Resources were dropped off by many thoughtful residents. From pizza's, Tastycakes, chips, pretzels, breakfast sandwiches, ziti, pasta, bottled water, pancakes, sausages, and many other supplies.
A special THANKS to those who donated!!!!
Mayor & Council along with some of their spouses showed up to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all first responders. The Magnolia Police Department, Magnolia Ambulance Corps. and Magnolia's Public Works crew all were invited. They also stood vigilant as Irene blew past.
Summary of Irene based on surrounding communities and counties, Magnolia faired well. Somerdale experienced power outages which experienced over 55 calls to supply power to sump pumps and flooding. Gloucester Twp. sections had power losses over 24+ hours. So we can count our blessings this time!
In closing the Magnolia Fire Company would like to thank everyone who donated their time, bought supplies, and supported our emergency crews with preparing meals.

Magnolia members visit NJ Transit
On Wed. May 4th, 30 members went to the NJ Transit Bus depot in Turnersville, as part of a hands on training exercise. The class was led by Carlos Antunes (Chief Quality Assurance Specialist).
We had a lecture / slideshow before going out into the garage to inspect (2) style buses used along the White Horse Pike. Members were taught all of the safety features found on the MCI and NABI buses.

The time spent going over all of the locations of kill switches, air release valves, jacking points, and Emergency Exits proved to be very worthwhile.
We would like to thank NJ Transit for hosting our group, so we can now understand and handle an emergency response involving public transit vehicles.

Magnolia's St. Patrick's Social
On March 12th we held our 2nd Beef & Beer Social at the Magnolia Recreation Center. Mayor and council extended the use of the building so we the volunteers have an additional way to support our organization. We thank you!
The event was a great success. We had 179 people in attendance
and music by DJ Chris Hummel kept everyone up and dancing. We featured something new this year, a Chinese Auction, which was ran and organized by Nancy and John Walsh.
We had 27 members assisting in all aspects of the event. A lot of time was dedicated by those who helped out knowing only one thing. This is the only way we can maintain our Fire Station on Evesham Ave. and keep our town with a fire department that tries to keep our tax dollars down for all residents! To all who attended many thanks!
